UNREGENERATE ELECT

Before an elect is saved and regenerated, is he accountable for his depravity?

This question comes to my mind in light of a comment by a fellow blogger who stated, "I'm so glad salvation isn't up to us."

I find myself in a quandry over that statement.  While I believe wholeheartedly that the Lord is the ABSOLUTE PROVIDER of my salvation, I also believe it is my responsibility to respond to His provision.  He sets the table and if I don't eat, it is my fault.  He provides the oil and if I don't go get the oil and put it in my lamp then it is my fault when the Bridegroom comes and I have no light.  He provides the Message and it is my responsibility to receive it after I've heard it.

Where am I amiss in this?  selahV 

WHO IS ISAIAH CALLING A FOOL?

"A highway shall be there, and a road, and it shall be called the Highway of Holiness.  The unclean shall not pass over it, But it shall be for others.  Whoever walks the road, although a fool, shall not go astray."  Isaiah 35:8

There's going to be a road and there's going to be a highway.   The highway is "the Highway of Holiness".  Yet, the road must be pretty significant too.  Even fools who walk it "shall not go astray".

Who is a fool?  selahV

CAN WE CHANGE GOD'S WILL?

We pray, "not my will, but Thine be done."

I consider how Moses prayed that God not wipe out the people when He was fed up with their grumbling and disobedience, so God relented.  Did God know He was going to change His mind?  Did God have His mind made up but honored Moses' request?

Jacob wanted a blessing and so he wrestled all night with God, "I will not let Thee go, except Thou bless me."  Did Jacob really have any power over whether God would go?

I wonder if the real crux of things is Moses and Jacob were actually seeking the will of God.  They wanted what God ultimately wanted--so it was God's will, not that He was changing it.  What do you think?  selahV

GOD'S WILL AND MINE...DO THEY COLLIDE?

Okay, Guys (and gals who sit silently behind your computer screens and do not comment for personal reasons), here is a question put to me today via email:

SelahV: "I've been keeping up with your Sovereignty question...not sure if this has been covered....but, if God ordains everything...can we ever be out of God's will?"

If I understand this reader's question, I suppose, she wants to know if our will can ever really be on collision with God's if God is the One decreeing what we ultimately do anyway?  Whew...that's one I'd like an answer to also.  Got any answers?  ;^)

WHEN IS THAT DAY?

"In that day you will ask Me nothing." John 16:23

When is that day?

Oswald Chambers says "It is the day the Savior makes you one with the Father."  According to him, "in that day" you will be one with the Father just as Jesus is, and He said, "In that day you will ask Me nothing."

I don't know about you, but I really don't have any questions of Jesus anymore.  I truly don't.  I have questions of man and wonder why he does what he does, thinks what he thinks and talks the way he talks.  But I don't have any questions of Jesus.

I question myself and my place in the scheme of things, but I don't question where Jesus has placed me in the scheme of things.  When I read this little devotional in "MY UTMOST FOR HIS HIGHEST, I sat quietly contemplating what questions I had of my Lord.  And for the life of me I couldn't conjure up one.   How about you?  selahV
