So much is being discussed of late on the subject of grace. Accepting God's grace. Embracing grace. Discovering grace. Doctrines of Grace. Ever heard someone say they no longer concerned themselves with the laws of God? His commandments were no longer of primary interest?
Without the grace of God, we would all be destined for everlasting punishment and separation from God. Without the grace of God, growing as a Christian would be impossible. Without the grace of God, life would be one unending trauma of desparation and futility. Yet, with the grace of God there is hope, promise and reward.
What shall we do with such a blessing? Between the time we come to know the grace of God in justification and glorification, what do we do with grace? Today I was reading in Titus and found these words:
"For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men. It teaches us to say "No" to ungodliness and worldy passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age, while we wait for the blessed hope--the glorious appearing of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ, who gave himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for himself a people that are his very own, eager to do that which is good." 2:14.
So as I see it, there is a lot more to grace than simply letting it coat our hearts--it is meant to fill our hearts with the fruit of His Spirit so that He is made manifest to others as a Light upon a hill. While we rest in the peace offered through salvation in Christ and the hope of glorification one day, we must live each day recognizing our responsibility to walk in the grace we have by sanctification--setting ourselves apart from the world and its temptations.
Personally, I find a great deal of assurance in knowing His grace is sufficient to meet my needs. Otherwise I'd have to do this alone. What marvelous grace. selahV
