PROMISING MATTERS

  • THE ABOVE IS HOW TO FOLLOW THE DEVIL WITHOUT EVEN TRYING

  • Sometimes I wonder how much better off the world would be if everyone purposed in their hearts and minds to compliment ten people a day.
  • THE LORD'S ON GUARD
"The eyes of the Lord keep guard over knowledge and him who has it..." Pr.22:12 Oh that Wisdom be confirmed by the knowledge we discover and grasp. God expects discretion be used in the knowledge we have so that He be glorified. God will guard our hearts and minds "but He overthrows the words of the treacherous." With believers, knowledge comes with responsibility. All we do with what we know is accountable to God. Likewise the words of our mouth reveal the integrity of our hearts. May we speak and act with integrity with that which we know that the Lord be glorified. selahV

Luke

V,
Totally disregarding the fact that a philosopher may drop buy and pick the sentence structure apart looking for fallacies and the likes, if you are saying what I think you are saying, then no, I personally do not believe there is a conflict. I do not believe that in order for God to be Sovereign, that He has to declare what will take place in every minutiae, rather, He at times permits things to take place.

In a rather hasty effort, beginning to tweak the sentence may I offer:

"God's absolute sovereignty in all things is big enough to allow self imposed limitations upon that sovereignty in order to give man free will."

I'm still thinkin on it and may even come back and change/adapt/tweak my revision to your statement.

hey Luke: hmmmn...so ya didn't like my wordage, huh? I think some philospher, somewhere, probably said that all ideas are subject to another's dissection and rearrangement.

I rather thought what you wrote was basically what I wrote--only with more words. What do you see as necessary to that change you made? Why did ya think it ought to read differently? to clarify? to correct? Just wondering.

I might like it better if it said, "God's absolute sovereignty in all things is big enough to allow His self-imposed limitations upon His sovereign will in order to give man free will."
How's that sound? selahV

P.S. I will be interested to see how others read this and why they read it the way they do. hopefully, Colin, Grosey, Tony and Keith will give it some thought. selahV

PERSONAL OPINION

  • IN MY HUMBLE OPINION
An opinion is something we own as ours. What we feel necessary to state publicly could become another's opinion as well. It would be good to consider how much truth is at the core of one's opinion before voicing it. Are we willing to take the time to dig to that depth before we adopt another's opinion as our own? selahV
