OUT OF CURIOSITY--EXACTLY WHY DO YOU BLOG? How'd you get started? What was the catalyst? Why do you do it today?
My catalyst was a friend. He made up a quick blog for me and said, "look out world--Hatty's here." Or some silly thing like that!
I first did it to enter conversations and learn new stuff about doctrinal issues. But that was way over this simple gal's head. So I started writing. And in time a few folks found me and started commenting. I still don't get a lot of comments. But that's okay. I just cast my bread upon the waters. Whatever happens with my writing is out of my hands once I hit "save and publish now."
I blog because I am called to encourage and comfort. I believe it is my responsibility to follow the promptings of God in my writing. Sometimes, I sense Him leading me to just write an email to a perfect stranger. So I do. It's not about me as Max Lucado's book says. I also have watched a tremendous amount of division amongst fellow Christians and feel it expedient, necessary and compelling to act as a peacemaker whenever I feel I can.
I believe God has called me to make internet relationships for His purpose. As I obey, He reveals the purpose to me. So, that's why you see me tip-tapping my way into the hospitality of your blogs. That's my agenda. Along with learning what other folks do, think and believe about all kinds of stuff. For the most part, I probably would be considered a "fluff" writer. I don't get into the deep theology in any of my blogs. I give a kind of sampling to attend to diverse interests.
I have a method to my madness. I could write for real. Publish another Conservative newspaper right here in Lawton, Oklahoma. Sell the advertising to pay for the thing. It's not hard to do. I've done it before. After all, I have 25 years sales and marketing experience, over twenty years as a freelance writer under my fingertips. But I like sitting here typing, designing, contemplating and having instant articles, devotionals and opinions dropping into the world in mere seconds. I love the interaction with others. That is the best part. People on the other side of my computer screen out there in the Kingdom of Blogland actually read my stuff. I'm motivated by my love for Jesus, His love for you, and my need to get us all together for a reunion in Heaven some day. I'm fueled by the Holy Spirit and give God all the glory for any "good stuff" people find on my blogs.
When I look in the mirror on any given day and then at the blogs I've written, I stand amazed that anything of any sense comes out of that brain behind my forehead. But the proof is in the puddin' and here it is. STUFF. 14 various published blogs--4 private blogs--and 3 in the design stages for future release. THAT'S ME. WHAT ABOUT YOU? WHY DO YOU BLOG? JUST WHERE ARE YOU COMING FROM? selahV
