There are lots of hard things in life. I've endured many.
But, I think the hardest thing in life is to care about someone and though you try to show your caring and love, they never grasp the depth of your love. They cannot be happy when you are happy and they cannot even pretend that they are. It's hard to care for someone and live a lifetime knowing they care far less about you or your happiness. It's the hardest thing.Harder than death.
And I cannot fathom how hard it must have been for our Lord to sacrifice his life for we sinners. How deep His love must be for us. Every day people knowingly turn their backs on Him, knowingly reject His love, His will, His desire to bring them to completeness.
No wonder Jesus wept when he stood and looked at Jerusalem as he made his way to his own Crucifixion. Others may not love us but Jesus does.
"My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you." John 15:12
NOTICE... it is not love as others love us-- but as Jesus loved us. We are bound by our love for Christ... and He will fill the gaps that others leave open by their lack of concern or interest in us. Keep loving, dear friends. Just as Jesus loved us.
