Yet again and again we see people lay down their lives for others. Do they want to die? No. Yet, they do. We call them heroes. We hear a story about bravery or sacrifice and we move on.
Today I read a story about a 14 year-old boy in Pakistan.
Aitazaz Hassan Bangash saw something that didn't make sense to him. He acted upon his gut feeling. He was killed by another person with a suicide vest. In a schoolyard of 2,000, how many did this young man save? we do not know, but Pakistan can be proud today of this young teenager. I'm sure when Aitazaz got up to go to school on Monday, the last thing on his mind was being blown up and saving lives in the process. I'm sure he didn't plan to be a hero either. Heroes don't plan to be heroes. It's sad he had to be one on Monday.
May his family be comforted by his heroism and may they find solace in his courage.
