One of my favorite things in the world is a rainbow. The vision of a double rainbow is an extra helping of hope spread across the sky. It's a blessed reminder of God's promise after a storm.
This photo was taken in Wichita Falls, Texas just after my granddaughter's indoor soccer game was canceled. A couple of weeks ago, my husband and I drove down from Oklahoma to see Brooklyn play, but a torrential downpour caused the ceiling to leak on the court (or field). The kids were turned away, the game rescheduled. My disappointed granddaughters kept apologizing to us because we'd driven over an hour to see Brooklyn play.
"It's okay," we assured them (even though we were just as disappointed as they were). "We got to see you and hug you; it was worth it just to do that. We'll have another day to be together." A promise. They knew we loved them; they could depend on that. Before we left, we got extra hugs and witnessed a double rainbow. The second arch in this rainbow is so faint that we could hardly see it.
Sometimes it's hard to see all the promises of God being fulfilled in our lives. Sometimes our eyes are so focused on the most brilliant, we fail to notice the smaller joys and blessings. A safe trip. A smile. A hug. A child's love. Yet from this, I am reminded once more of the promise that no matter what life brings our way, our Lord is the Keeper of every storm. When we lift our eyes above depending upon Him, He never fails to keep His word. Whether we see Him or not. selahV
