September 11, 2001. 9-11. Tragedy. Grief. Memories. Today is for remembering. Shall we? Shall we teach our children and grandchildren that in that horrific day, while fear gripped our hearts and shock filled our minds, that we determined not to let it control us? Will we remind our children that courage faces fear head-on? Will we remind them of the unity of Americans that came from the belly of destruction? Will we teach our children to pray for our nation? Our military? Our civil servants--policemen, firemen, EMTs, nurses and doctors who are often first responders to a crisis we face?
Will we teach them that not all people love God--not all know Jesus--and we need to pray for our missionaries to reach the world? Will we teach them to pray for us so we can be better witnesses as we go about our daily life?
We have a lot in common...and we must remember that "what unites us is stronger than what divides." Prayer. Faith. Jesus.
