We can probably all give testimony of times we've faced emotional storms. We can share the heartache we've felt when falsely accused, wrongfully used, or verbally abused. No one is exempt from trials the world delivers as we walk through this space in time called life. Some of these storms hit us in the midst of an ordinary day, in an ordinary way, and then move on as quickly as they strike. Sometimes we're left alone to pick up the pieces from things others have caused. Sometimes we find ourselves wondering where to begin. It's in these times, as Believers, we can stop and rest in our Savior's presence. Where flesh fails, the Spirit prevails. We can give Him the pain, the sadness, the brokenness--our weakness. And He will take it from us and cast it far beyond our memory. Then He will transform that which is destroyed into a new day. And we will walk on, in an extraordinary way.
"In a sense, believers can be happier after their trials because the greatest joy is realized when you contrast that joy with the greatest sorrow. No calm is any more evident than that which follows a storm. The sunshine that follows a dreary rainy day is all the brighter. Even so, the peace that follows crisis and tragedy is sweet, deep, and wonderful beyond description. You become rich through losses; you will be lifted up after your falls; you will fill your cup only after you have emptied it; you will find life abundantly only after dying yourself." Dr. Dorothy Patterson, A HANDBOOK FOR MINISTERS' WIVES
