Way back in 2007, I posed some questions on Sovereignty on "SelahV's Questions". I got some great feedback on them. One of those questions came directly from a reader who emailed me with:
SelahV: "I've been keeping up with your Sovereignty question...not sure if this has been covered....but, if God ordains everything...can we ever be out of God's will?"
If I understand this reader's question, I suppose, she wants to know if our will can ever really be on collision with God's if God is the One decreeing what we ultimately do anyway? Thought provoking, don't you think? I've toyed with some things lately that may be more easily understood if we knew the answer to my previous reader's question. For instance:
1~ If Sovereignty determines all that we do, can the folks who voted for Obama be held accountable for the horrific decisions he is making regarding abortion? We may deserve what we get, remember Israel's captivity?
2~ If Sovereignty determines every outcome, does it really matter if the Southern Baptist Convention is called Southern and Baptist in states above the Mason-Dixon line and on the western side of the country? Everything is relative, anyway, isn't it?
3~ If Sovereignty determines what we ultimately achieve in life and undergirds every failure, what difference does it make that we manipulate, climb ladders and push folks out of the way to get ahead? We're gonna get there anyway, aren't we?
4~ If Sovereignty can be trusted as perfect, why do we get frustrated with the direction of the SBC, the stock market, the government, and everyday stuff? Wouldn't this be a place to "consider the lilies of the fields and the birds in the air"?
