Today HayJae and I were sitting in her daddy's recliner looking through a Christian bookstore circular. She was picking out shapes, colors and flowers. I asked, "Where's the heart?"
"There it is!" she pointed.
"Where's Jesus?"
She snapped her head around and looked at me like I'd lost my mind. I pointed to the photograph of Jesus pictured on the front cover of a book.
She looked at that picture and admonished me.
"That's not Jesus! Jesus is the book!"
HayJae knows that her little New Testament is the book about Jesus. She had just opened it about an hour before and read me a story. Over and over again she recited, "Jesus come to my house. Jesus come to my house." Then it was, "Jesus loves me. Jesus loves me."
HayJae looked up at me with her uniquely colored honey-green eyes, pointed back at the photo in the sales circular, and said, "That's not Jesus, Grama! Jesus is the Book."
I squeezed HayJae close and hugged her tightly. "Yes, baby! You're right Jesus is the Book. He sure is!"
"In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God, and the Word was God." John 1:1.
