A soldier shows up every day; he trains and exercises and prepares for the day he will have to go to war. He does this in rain, shine, cold and heat. He doesn't whine and complain, he stands on the frontlines so we can stand in the check-out lines and poll lines of our choosing. Jerry Critchelow did that for us. He's 49 and retired from the Army, now. But today he's fighting another battle. In Hawesville, Kentucky. And in this one, he can use our help.
His wife's aunt contacted me on Facebook tonight. I had written an article on her niece when she won Kentucky's Teacher of the Year and spotlighted her in my newspaper over a decade ago. It jogged my mind to have a person from the past contact me like that. How did she get my name? I didn't ask. What made her think to use Facebook to find me? I do not know. All I know is she asked that I ask the Christians I know to pray for Jerry who is battling lung and pancreas cancer. So...I come to you. Thanks so much. selahv
