Sometimes kids ask the most perplexing things. Just when you think you've got one of those questions answered you find you've only been baited for the hook on another. Such is the case of HayJae, who'll be four-years-old in a couple of weeks.
"Mom, is God on our side?"
"Yes, He is."
"Then when is He on His side?"
Now, before you say God is not on our side but His own, let me remind you that HayJae is still only three. She's been listening to Veggie Tales songs and the idea of God being on our side is in the song. The concept that God's side is the only side, is a bit above her ability to conceptualize. And even though God is on our side when we are walking in compliance with His side, He's still on our side when we falter and fail. Grace. It covers so much. Yet, to explain to HayJae that God is always working to bring us to His side and keep us on His side through sanctification will probably have to wait until we have a better illustration a toddler can comprehend. Any ideas? selahV
