...when the world knocks the stuffing out of us.
Friends give us a place to lay our heads and rest from thoughts of madness and feelings of futility. They lend us their comfort when we have none of our own. They fill our flattened spirit with encouraging words and merciful perspectives. They stitch together the seams of life's discord with silver threads and trim the edges with gold braid. They zip up the gaping holes left by others, then fluff up our innermost musings with gentle hands of love and kindness.
And after a few hours of
poking and prodding, we find ourselves feeling full of life once more. So full, we are able to cushion another when they fall and offer them a pillow of comfort. Like heads on pillows, friends leave impressions on our heart and soul. ~selahV © hariette petersen, 2012
