"Mommy, I'm four, now," HayJae announced for the umpteenth time that day.
"Yes, you are!"
"Look at me. I still look three."
We all looked and sure enough it didn't look like she'd aged one bit from the day before. So young to be so wise a lady, don't you think?
Today I feel every bit the 60-plus years I've weathered. And there are times I wonder if there are things I could have done to age more gracefully. Occasionally I meditate on ways I could look less than the years that whisper to the world, "She's getting old, you know." It's days like this when I ponder the memories this little one has made in my life in her four short years that I realize afresh that aging begins when you're young. And the process is a beautiful thing. selahV
