When my son died, we were given love offerings from former churches we served in. The church we are part of today took up a collection for us. When my husband had a major heart attack two years later, the church took care of us again and even helped us with our rent. It took a heavy load off my husband's mind as we struggled to make ends meet. But God provided. He provided by His people. Generous brothers and sisters in Christ.
We really have no idea who gave what; we only know they cared and so they gave. And that is the way it should be, for it is written:
"Be careful not to practice your righteousness in front of others to be seen by them. If you do, you will have no reward from your Father in heaven." Matthew 6:1
We can never repay the people who were so kind and loving toward us. We can only pray for them and trust that the Lord will reward them for their righteousness. They didn't do it to be seen by others. They simply gave from their hearts.
Prayer: My Father, who is in Heaven. Hallowed be Your name. I give You praise and glory for all You do in my life. I thank You for the provision in our darkest hours of need. I trust You in the days of uncertainty ahead. You are the Most High God. Let us all be stewards of Your grace and give as You have given to us. Generously, without need of praise or glory from man for doing so.
