we have a choice to heed it, or reject it.
When we receive it, and act upon it, we are rewarded with greater peace. We cannot go wrong. Proverbs 1:33 says "...whoever listens to me [wisdom] will live in safety and be at ease, without fear of harm.” That's peace.
When we heed the wisdom God freely gives to all who ask, we have an edge on life that others do not. Yet, so many times, instead of following all we know that is true, we listen to the voices of society and trending ideas. We take the advice of strangers over God and follow people who have no desire whatsoever to keep us safe from harm. God warns us what will happen. He tells us we will fall flat on our faces.
"Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised. Honor her for all that her hands have done, and let her works bring her praise at the city gate." Proverbs 31:30-31
When I face perplexing situations and troubling circumstances, I trust on God to get me through the hours or days of confusion because I know God is not the author of confusion. I know I need help from above to cut my way through the cloud of His adversary's making. Satan travels from one end of the earth to the other seeking ways to trip us up, to destroy our faith and effectiveness in the kingdom work.
Scoffers will tell us we make our own way in life. Trust in your bank account, your ability, your talent, your knowledge. Mockers will laugh at us for seeking God's will and way-- for trusting wholeheartedly in His protection and sustaining grace. When we lay our burdens at Christ's feet, Satan pulls out all stops and creates seemingly impossible circumstances to overcome. But it is written:
"Get wisdom, get understanding: forget it not; neither decline from the words of my mouth.Forsake her not, and she shall preserve thee: love her, and she shall keep thee.Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding." Proverbs 4:4-6
When we trust in God, his wisdom preserves us and keeps us in calamity and awards us with understanding that surpasses the logic and reason of the world. This understanding rewards us with peace in the trial and faith to see us through to another day. selahVtoday
Amen! In the midst of trials and difficulties Satan loves when we remove our focus from God to focus on the circumstances of our situation.
It is during these times he is more able to "sift us like wheat." But isn't it great to know that no matter what we face God is there and He can provide the strength and comfort to to see us through. That is the "peace that passes all understanding." ~Karen
