Sometimes it is difficult to make a decision. Sometimes all reason and logic would have one to follow a certain path. But some little thing deep inside is tearing at one's soul and whispering in one's ear, "Don't go that way; move away from that place." And so one takes all the human logic and reason and walks on, trusting that still small Voice within.
"Go from the presence of a foolish and self-confident man, for you will not find knowledge on his lips." Proverbs 14:7
I've made dozens of decisions based on my own knowledge and self-confidence. And I have fallen to consequences of my pride. I have trusted in men who were rebellious and self-confident--men who thought they had all the answers. I've stood in the presence of fools and allowed myself to be sucked into their ways. I've allowed myself to be enticed into conversations and discussions that did not honor God. I've sat in the presence of scoffers.
God says to "Go from the presence" of such men. Get out of there. Have you not been in a situation which causes the hair to stand up on the back of your neck? A gut feeling that causes you to question another?
"A wise man suspects danger and cautiously avoids evil, but the fool bears himself insolently and is [presumptiously] confident." Proverbs 14:16
When you find yourself in a circumstance in which you suspect something is amiss, it is best to "go from the presence" of that place. We must always be on guard. We do not know when the evil one will move into our lives and try to take us down a pathway of destruction. We must constantly seek the face of God and yield to the leadership of His Holy Spirit. His Word does not contradict His perfect will. When we follow His Word, we will know which way to go. selahV

The tough part too often is how we manage to explain or refrain explaination when we know God is showing us something (sin-in us and them) and is not showing them yet. Prayer is indeed a comfort when we must get off the trail of pride once followed.
Thanks for the post. The Holy Spirit uses it to continual confirm what he has told and shown me.

The rewards from removing ourselves from thos places are so great. God wants only the very best for His children, doesn't He? The Holy Spirit is the most incredible gift when you are struggling with decisions and questions in life. God is constant and never-changing. I love that His ways are made known to me in just the ways and at just the right time. Love you!

Chris..ah, yes. there is always the tough parts.
Karen...yes, sometimes it is hard to move on, but for me, it is more because I'm unsure of my understanding of the situation. I am so imperfect that it is hard for me not to get mixed up between something I think I ought to do, and something I ought to do. That is why the Word of God is so vital. It is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path. selahV
