There is a story I read months, maybe years, ago of a soldier running from the enemy in the jumgle. They were fast on his heels when he came upon a cave. He could hear them nearby and huddled into the dark refuge of that cave. Within moments of his entering it, a spider began to spin a web at the entrance. When the enemy approached, they saw the web and didn’t bother searching it because the web was undisturbed.
“The Angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear Him [who revere and worship Him with awe] and each of them He delivers. O taste and see that the Lord our God is good! Blessed is the man who trusts and takes refuge in Him. O fear the Lord, you His saints [revere and worship Him]! For there is no want to those who truly revere and worship Him with godly fear.” Psalm 34:7-9
I don’t understand how God does it. I just know He does. I know that in the most frightening of circumstances that He is encamped around me. I know that there is nothing that can hurt the me that trusts in Him. Not enemies, not slander, not gossip, not accusations, not hatred, not illness, not death, not one single solitary thing. For my Lord encamps around me. Because I am in awe of Him and know He is greater than anything in this world. selahV

This is one of my most favorite Bible verses. I absolutely love the illustration that you used with the man in the cave. God definitely blows my mind day after day!

Karen..I've always loved that verse. I've prayed it for many a soldier and their family, too.
