Does anyone envy you? Do you envy anyone? Perhaps all the young women who longed to be the mother of the prophesied Messiah during biblical times, would envy Mary when they realized the privilege she’d been given through God and the Holy Spirit.
“And blessed (happy, to be envied) is she who believed that there would be a fulfillment of the things that were spoken to her from the Lord.” Luke 1:45
Can you imagine the privilege of being chosen to give birth to the Son of God? To raise the Son of God? And yet, the complications of becoming the mother of the Most High when she wasn’t even married? At one time, Mary didn’t know she would be the one. She was raised in a home where she was taught the prophesies of God and she knew someone would be chosen. She looked forward to the fulfillment of that prophesy, just as all Hebrew men, women, and children did.
For whatever reason the Lord chose Mary, Luke relates that she would be blessed—happy, envied for her belief that God’s promises to her would indeed be fulfilled.
Are you praying for someone to know Jesus during this season which Believers celebrate His birth? Is there a waitress you see each week? A clerk, each month? A co-worker every day? A family member on occasion? Are you claiming a promise of God that He will answer you as you intercede in their behalf? Do you believe God will fulfill His promises?
Blessed are you…to be envied. And blessed is the person for whom you are praying. selahV
