He didn't give up. He experienced the worst of times. He bore the financial burdens and bad credit caused by her extravagance and failure to pay the creditors. He gave her everything she asked for when she filed for divorce. He lost everything they'd accumulated in the early part of their marriage. He forgave infidelity. He trusted she would change, and later accepted she had changed. No matter what others said, he believed in her. And after three years of patiently waiting, she returned to him. They remarried and thirty years later, they are happy and their love is stronger than ever.
"Love bears up under anything and everything that comes, is ever ready to believe the best of every person, its hopes are fadeless under all circumstances, and it endures everything [without weakening]." 1 Corinthians 13:7
How many men would be this way? How many people would consider this husband a dreamer--an idiot--a smuck? In today's world, few counselors, even ministers, would give a couple like this any chance of making it. But through Christ, anything is possible. Jesus changed her and restored their marriage. Love bears all things--no matter what happens. selahV
