Well, this should be an interesting week. It didn't start out quite like I planned, but by the time you are reading this, it will have proved to be a success or my un-doing. You see, my granddaughter, Brooklyn, went to youth camp this week. The largest Christian camp in the world--Falls Creek. She was about to burst with excitement. She'd never been to youth camp. She's seen her older cousins go and know how much it meant to them. So she's longed to go for quite a while. We've been shopping and packing for days. So what's that got to do with my un-doing? Well, my daughter went as a Camp Sponsor and so I get her little girls for the week, along with Brooklyn's younger sister.
I have all kinds of activites planned for them, including the water park (which I immediately had to scratch from my list of things-to-do because we awoke Monday morning with torrents of rain). So today we paint. Today we slop various acrylics on our hands and press them on canvas bags and tee-shirts. Then we will have them to wear at the water-park and to tote our lotions and towels.
I'd also planned to put up our tent in the back yard and camp-out one night. But just yesterday we saw an army of ticks (yes, ticks) climbing the pecan trees. So my hubby has to suffocate those ticks with poison before we dare put up the tent for a camp-out. What plans I had for tonite, will have to be cast aside till Thursday. However, we're still going to fire up our chimney pot and roast marshmallows and have s'mores. Camp Grama's will not be deterred by ticks, rain, or foul weather.
I have tons of little crafts for three little girls to assemble into necklaces, sun-catchers, and pictures for their walls. We have puzzles, and coloring books, and even some little wooden birdhouses to paint. I'm planning a treasure hunt in the back yard with a real treasure chest ladened with coins to use whatever way they want at the Dollar-tree. That day we'll definitely have to eat at Cici's Pizza. I even plan a hike a Medicine Park to feed the ducks in a cooler place. Camp Grama's is all about entertainment. It has nothing to do with scouring floors, doing laundry, or washing windows. I plan on painting the windows with flower graffiti, and leaving house-cleaning till next week. We'll have no time for Fox News, or Website debates about politics. There's plenty of time for doldrums every-day living next week. Life goes on hold for all intents and purposes. This week is all about keeping grandkids too busy to be bored, and with too little time to miss Mommy and big sister. This week it's all about Fun with a capital "F". So, I catch ya next week to tell ya how it went. Mishaps and all.
